So I tried to install Windows XP awhile ago and it would only start in safe mode. If I tried to start in normal it would say the Windows Xp is loading thing but then the screen would just go black. Anyone know what might be going on? Should I try installing it again?

For some reason I get the same thing on one of my PCs - it installed fine on others I have tried.

    What is your PC's config?

mine is a 1400 Athlon w/a GeForce2 (other than that it is similar to the other computers that I haven;t had problems with).

 I didn't read your post correctly - I don't get the safe mode, I only get the black screen after the windows splash screen

If it's starting in safe mode, then one would think it's a conflict somewhere..whether its drivers or something else logical.

I have a damn Gateway, but it's an 1100 MHZ AMD Athlon. It doesn't start automatically in Safe Mode, but it works when I try to start it in Safe Mode.
