Okay here's the deal.. A friend has an HP Omnibook XE3. It has windows 2000 on it. Can I load XP on this computer? How do I do it, just put in the CD and let it go or what? Anyone wanna buy it?

Yup, you can just stick in the XP cd, and it will install itself over 2000. The preferred way would be to backup all his files, format, and freshly install XP. Unless you are an experienced computer user, just do the upgrade.

Well I think he would rather have a fresh start anyhow but installing over would probably transfer all his current files right? So if he wanted a fresh start he would have to format correct?

yes its always best to backup, reformat, and install a new OS. XP setup has an option to delete the existing partition and create a new one. Do that after backing up everything.
