    Long story short...

My grandfather was a photographer and he kept a lot of his work on his computer. He passed away a few months ago and now we're trying to retrieve some of the photos from his laptop. Problem is is we don't have his password to log on to xp. Anyone have any clue of how we could get around this? Thanks.

you could take the harddrive out and plug it into your pc
take ownership of folders if it denies you access.

If it is XP home edition there is a good chance that the administrator password was left blank.

When starting the computer hit f8 to boot into safe mode. Then try logging in as administrator with out typing in a password.
