The little speaker icon that was in the toolbar isn't there anymore. I went into the control panel and it tells me that there is no audio device.

I was on the computer earlier and I was able to open the volume controls and adjust the volume.

Right now the only way I can even hear anything is through windows media player.

    Any and all help appreciated.

is anything showing up in the device manager?

most likely, you could just download the newest drivers and install them and that should fix the problem.

or run PnP wizard on Control Panel (Add/remove hardware).. let WinXP try to detect your audio device (unless you have none)

Well after much thumbing around I went into Start-Programs-Entertainment- and opened the Conexany audi there. Then I just went into the control panel and turned my default to Conexant.
