so i downloaded windows x64 legally from a friend.

i need to burn it onto 2 disks and have it bootable from dvd.

cant mount any images using daemon tools because im not installing it on a partition, its going on a clean HD.

    any help is greatly appreciated.

i have all the files and shit just dont know how to make it into 2 dvds, and making it bootable from dvd drive.

i know how to do it in the bios, but the cd has to be right.

Sure you can. They have a site specifically for volume license holders that will allow you to download any of their products.

it's probably one of those custom installer packages
it includes the OS installer, firefox, ms office, anti-virus, and other various software

some are legit,... you still need to provide serial #s and product keys. most incorporate them though.

    edit: from his other thread

Yes, but you are a normal person and you are not allowed to use those downloads -- and your friend is not allowed to give them to you unless he sells you a new computer at retail price and pays Microsoft their fee.

That's not an issue for me, though, because all of my machines are for dev/testing purposes only. ;) I have yet to finalize a build on any of them.

I can use those downloads as long as I have a legally-obtained license code for the product being installed. If I have a Dell machine that came with Windows XP, I can use the distro I downloaded from MSVL to re-install that Dell machine and just give it the license key that comes from the MS certificate on the case of the Dell machine.

If you actually read my post, you could replace "your friend" with "Dell" and what I said would still be completely accurate.

i said some,... not that particular one he is using
and besides, with vista,... the installer really doesn't matter as long as you use a legit key

My rule is as long as there's not a side panel on the case, it's a dev/testing box :mamoru:

    1. they are idiots
    2. you downloaded (or what your friend gave you) a hacked version of the vista installer that bypass activation/doesn't require a key

as I've said on my other post,.. the source of the Vista software would not matter as long as you use your genuine key. what you need is a 'clean' copy of the installer, which is under 4GB (1 DVD),... not that Vista Eternity crap.

    we're the idiots?

first of all, this guy comes in here with a warez scene version of windows and a supposedly "legit" key given to him by his friend.

even if it was a legally purchased key that doesn't mean it can necessarily be given away, like if it was purchased as an OEM license or bulk corporate license. while it may work putting in one of those cd-keys that doesn't mean it's legal as it probably violates the licensing agreements.

    so who's the idiot?

personally i'm surprised this thread is still even open considering we're not even allowed to talk about software to back-up DVDs even for legitimate purposes.

let me make this simple to you:

OEM key,... it's tied to one machine.
Retail key,... you can transfer/use it to any machine, as long as it's not being used on any other machine.

If MS found out that the key is being misused in any way, they have every right to invalidate that license of course.

so why do you faggots cry 'thief' if he indeed has a valid key?
if he doesn't, well,... fuck him.
all i'm saying is instead of being whinny bitches,... why don't you point him to the right direction?

mods can lock this thread for all i care

Why don't you just ask the people who are providing the download for instructions on it's use. If it is legit, they should have something documented. Oherwise, youay as well let the thread die since no one will help.

Everyone thinks you're stealing it because it's virtually impossible for Joe User to get Windows for free without breaking the law, even if it's just a civil violation of the End-User License Agreement. Not that you'll ever get caught, but the issue isn't so much whether you'll get caught as it is the forum could get sued for propagating info on how to pirate software.
