I'm trying to use Windows Explorer to open a DVD that I burned about a month ago containing avi files. When I open the folder with the DVD device, I get a message saying "Windows Explorer has stopped working" and then it proceeds to restart Windows Explorer. Once, it gave a popup saying that some codec was to blame, and I clicked on it and it took me to a page to download a new one, which I did and installed. However, the problem persists, and I cannot get anymore info out of this cycle.

I had a problem similar to this on my old Thinkpad laptop running XP. If I selected the folder containing the video files, and the files were huge (>700MB), then Windows Explorer would freeze while trying to create a screenshot of the video files.
