i tried out windows 7 for a couple of days. did not have good luck with it

put my xp drive back in and i get this message when ever i try to open anything on any drive except for the system drive
"windows cannot access the specified device path or file"

i am an administrator. i checked permissions, made sure i had ownership. changed ownership to the administrators group. changed it back to my name. also made sure it was set to read/write with permissions

    tried this:
    http://www.leonelson.com/blog/2009/...e-appropriate-permissions-to-access-the-item/

i'll try this later, but i doubt it is the issue

its like windows 7 took over my drives and will allow me to switch back onwership (even though it showed my account name always had ownership), but will not allow me to access anything

i'll try reimaging my system drive...if that doesn't work, i guess i reload from my backup drives

i think i got it. my backup drive holds my media player classic application. i was only trying to open files types that used media player classic.

my backup drive had it's permissions set all wrong, the owner was some weird account name.
