Not sure on the validity of this site, but it was sent to me:

    http://www.postchronicle.com/news/original/article_212140761.shtml

There is a video demo and screenshots on the site as well.

[Not sure if this has been posted, offtopic keeps telling me I need to use more than 2 words to search when I have 2+ words in there.... so no search]

Is Vista going to turn into the new bastard child and join ME?

I've been running Vista for a while and I'm thinking I'm going to switch back to XP. DirectX10 didn't give me that much of a noticeable difference, the shininess of Vista has worn off, and I kinda just wanna go back to what I know best since Vista is going to be dead soon anyway.

not likely. Vista came out early 2007... Microsoft has NEVER hit a deadline. Ever. Vista was supposed to be out in 2005 and it slipped 2 years... And they only made the 2007 deadline by removing all the "cool new" features. Windows 7 will be the same. So expect 2010-2011 for a new version of Windows to hit the streets... That gives vista a 4 year run, which is average for the windows line (XP actually had a longer-than-usual run).

It's also possible MS is going to take the Apple approach which is "do less, release often".

I think he meant since it's going to be replaced soon.

Back when ME was out, people did the same thing and waited for XP.

Mainly that vista hasn't been well accepted by the business world or the gaming world and most of those users have decided to not upgrade from XP or to downgrade back to XP. Vista won't be dead as in unsupported, just dead as in not widely accepted. And if that article is right, quickly replaced.

I wouldn't say that it hasn't been accepted well by the business world, just that the business world is NOT ready to upgrade. I'd be suprised if very many businesses even use Office 07 yet. Businesses usually don't upgrade to new software like that until it has been out for a while and they feel it is stable enough that they don't need to worry about downtime.

As for the end-users, I agree with you there.

As for Vista being replaced quickly, I agree with potroast that unless Windows 7 isn't much of an upgrade from Vista, it will not meet deadline. They hardly left themselves very much time for Beta testing in there.

    Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I for one would be happier with the apple model if they could release cheaper updates that actually add new features and do it more frequently.

That could be just a Typo.

And depending on whether that's maybe a British site or something, they just might not know where the hell MS headquarters are.
