    is this any good? I hear good / bad things. if you need to reformat and have no cd to do so, worth doing it?

    do you have an amd64 (obvious question).

    it's still beta. For being a beta, it's pretty stable -- but it's still beta, nonetheless. I'd check and make sure all the drivers you need can be found before you take the plunge, tho.

    yes i do have 64bit processor. i have nvidia video card.

    i know this, however, i need to reformat and do not have any windows to use, should i try this or do soemthing else?

    I'd just buy Win XP Pro. A legit copy is only around $140.

    Windows + Beta = :uh:

    I tried it once after drinking for a while and watched my laptop cry.

    If you're straped for an OS give Ubuntu (or any distro) a try, it's what I'm using now on my laptop and let me tell you. :love:

    I recommend Ubuntu though because it's the most polished debian based distro I've tried yet. It actually made me like Gnome again. I could write more about the things I like in Ubuntu, give it a try though and you wont need to read it from me.
