I plan on tinting my 2005 honda civic, I'm from Michigan so I probably will do the rear and rear side windows- 50% or something like that. Should I do a dye or a film job? Are there any shops in Michigan you'd recommend me to go to? If I get a film job- I want it to last a long time. If it's a dye job- not too expensive then please.

20% is the way to go. Dark but not so dark you can't see at night. Mine is Johnson brand film and has not faded or discolored since it was put on a year ago

Don't do it yourself if that's what you're thinking. it WONT last. Secondly, I've never heard of dye, both my cars have been tinted with film, and most shops have life time warranty.

35% is the manufacturing tint you see on cars thave have tint when stock. Anything darker and the % will decrease. 5% is really damn dark, it's limo tint...not worth it on the rear window.

go to a shop (look in your phonebook!) and look at the examples of film they have.
