I have tried to disable indexing and basic windows services and I still hear it accessing all the time. I dont have a antivirus or firewall either so i dont get whats going on.This is a pretty fresh install.

    anyone know any solutions?

It's normal. Live with it. Unplug the hard drive light if it bothers you that much. In theory, at least, Windows won't do anything in the background when something you're running needs to hit the hard drive, so you shouldn't be feeling any performance hit from it.

Task sched. Its running things in the background keeping track of stuff you run for performance reasons. Thats mostly like what you are hearing. Pretty normal on a new install its taking note of what you access the most and the least rearranging information on the drive (or so its supposed to) for faster access.

Vista does the same thing for a while after a fresh install. It's AI is monitoring your computer usage and optimizing what you use most frequently... so that it can blackmail you with it later, how do you think MS is so successful?

By banning my PC from the internet for modding it, then making me buy a new one to regain access :wtc:

Another reason 360 sucks. I still don't understand why 360 owners are all right with paying a monthly fee to play games online.

It's probably indexing your harddrive, it does that the first few weeks.

Even cheap SSDs are capable of withstanding several years of continuous rewriting, and Windows Vista/7 are smart enough to minimize the amount of rewrite activity they do if they detect a hard drive with a rotational speed of 0rpm.
