    Why haven't we yet?

Those bikes are so sweet looking.

If we got the 250, that would be my first bike for sure.

You can get the RS250 here in the states. The local Aprilia dealer sells them. And they are not just for race use... License for them too!

Although it is getting harder and harder to do it "legally". 2-strokes for the street are slowly being phased out here in the states.

Well anyone know the Florida laws?

They don't even show the RS250 on the Aprilia US site. :dunno:

There are a few different ways to license a vehicle like the RS250 in the states.

    1. Make a friend in the licensing office...
    2. Find a state that is a bit more lenient when it comes to these bikes (Oregon and Virginia come to mind)
    3. Find others who have licensed RS250s and talk to them how they have done it

It's not impossible but it's getting harder and harder to do.

When I went down to the licensing office last week to get new plates for my Mille, the lady first asked if it was a RS250...

CBR250s are not available in the states...

I dunno if I'd want a 2-stroke as either a beginner bike or a daily street ride. Way too finnicky for me.

the RS250 has been discontinued for export to the US due to more stringent laws against road-going 2-strokes. this is according to Aprilia.

    what's left is left.

Its much easier than you think...totally legal? No, but its doable. The best way is to find a VIN from a wrecked bike. If you live in a state with SMOG inspections...well, I don't think you will be too successful. If not, then the chances of getting caught by a cop who gives a crap is very small.
