sorry if this is a dumb, question, but this is my first build, and i want to make sure nothing goes wrong. I know how to install everything so that is not a problem, i just wanted to know if this build might get to hot and overheat.

for gee-whiz do NOT get XP Home -- get Pro.

do NOT get a fucking thermaltake cpu cooler. Get zalman if you're cheap -- Thermalright if you're not.

do NOT get an nVidia chipset mobo. nVidia GPU == good. nVidia northbridge == bad. Intel or bust.

Samsung hard drive? Only in a budget build. Get rid of it.

To answer your question, I don't have any experience with theat particular cpu cooler but unless you overclock, the factory one will be fine.

You have a GeForce 8xxx series card but windows XP... either go with a 7xxx series or get Vista. If you do stick with XP, you will not be able to use all of your 4GB of RAM.

Your Samsung DVD burner... for $2 more you can get the exact same thing but with LighScribe right now.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy the fuck do you wanna get an 8800GTX?

And ditch the nforce chipset. Not like you're gunna use it. X48>X38>P35>nvidia chipset

    1. Good motherboard, bad chipset. I would suggest looking into something else.
    2. Either buy an 8800Ultra or a GT. MSI 88800 Ultra for $559 at newegg.
    3. Why not get 1 750GB hard drive?
    4. Speakers are excellent.
    5. I'd get rid of the Samsung HDD and DVD drive for sure. I had a Samsung DVD-RW die on me earlier today.
    6. Stick with Windows XP, Vista's a piece of crap. I've optimistically installed it probably 4 times now and I can't stop going back to XP.

i appreciate all your responses guys, thanks. what mobo do you think i should look into, preferably sli compatible(for future purposes). I've looked into the x38's on newegg and none of them are sli compatible, but they seem to the best rated.

sli is worthless, don't bother. x38 is a good chipset.

I wouldn't recommend any board with an nvidia chipset. Im pretty happy with my asus p5k deluxe.
