Anyone know what make/size that might be?

    My guess:

Will Smith: Glock 19 (Satin Nickel)
    Martin Lawrence: SIG 226

I could only guess that they were 9mm models. I didnt pay too much attention to it. CDNNInvestments has them both on sale right now.

As for target use, I'd go with a 9mm version. Cheaper ammo and wide availability.

Definitely Glocks, not sure of model (I haven't seent the movie yet). I would get a 9mm for a beginner, you really don't need anything bigger even if you aren't a beginner, but that's a whole different thread. Glock doesn't make a .38, they make 9mm, 10mm, .40, .45, .357 SIG, and .380 which isn't available to US market.

Has what onsale? I'm confused. Anyway, what would a gun like that actually cost with and without the nickel plating?

Glock 19 will run about 500-550ish. Plating is usually around 100-150. so 600-700. :dunno:

That's pretty much the prices I've seen here in Houston for a new Glock. But if you're willing to try a used pistol, CDNNInvestments has it for around $399 in Satin Nickel finish. These however are police trade in guns. The used SIGs are about the same price. But, I'm guessing you're looking at the Glocks. (Page 16 for the Glocks and page 19 for the SIGS on the CDNN catalog.)

IMO, there are 2 kinds of LEOs. The one that takes care of their daily carry weapon and the one that tosses it to the side when they are done for the day. I'm not trying to be discouraging as far as buying a used firearm, but just to give you a heads up as far as what to expect.

They looked like Glock 22, .40's to me, judging by the size/shape of the bullet that they showed moving in slow motion.

Yes, I know that. It would however, indicate what model gun he was using. Glock 17 = full sized 9mm, Glock 22 = full sized .40 cal. I just got done watching the movie again, and I'm pretty sure it's the g22, but I didn't pause the scene where they showed the close up.

When I saw the movie the guns appeared to be the compact or mid sized Glock 19 or 23 as opposed to the full size 17/22. I don't think there is any single scene where one can clearly decipher the etchings on the slide to figure out what caliber the guns were.

Well I tried to get some captures of the movie but they didnt come out too well. take a look.

cant tell if this says 19 or 17, I'm sure its a One up front though.

Just something else I noticed. I dont know about you guys, but I dont think I'd drop mags in a shootout if I still had ammo in them. :eek3:

    It does have recoil.
    Yes you can feel it.

No, not nearly as much as a real glock.

Well, they are definitely Glock 19's in 9mm. When he dropped his magainze that wasn't completely empty and reloaded, that is known as a tactical reload. I would do it if I were in a gunfight and had a spare mag or two, you most likely won't remember how many shots you have left, and you definetly don't wan't to get caught short on ammo. So drop your half empty mag and stick it in a pocket, then if you shoot your other mag dry, you still have some rounds left.

If he was engaging in a tactical reload he should have pocketed the ejected mags instead of dropping them on the floor. Those extra rounds could come in handy later :eek3:.
