I noticed that Kimbo got rocked in a couple fights, for example when he fought "Bouncer" and "Chico". Kimbo went for a takedown after "Bouncer" rocked him, even though that was against the rules in their "bare knuckle brawl fight".

Everyone talks about how weak Thompson's chin is...but the truth is, we have yet to see Kimbo's. JT has a lot of experience, could be an interesting fight.

James Thompson is pretty damn featherfisted for his size

his striking mechanics are horrible, and they usually pit him against fighters that will stand toe-to-toe and bang. kimbo, although known known for being a striker, has a good camp that will put the best gameplan available. he'll probably stand with Thompson for a bit before he takes him down, then wear him out there before the ref pulls him off

true, but Thompson used to train at Extreme Couture, and Kimbo got knocked out at Extreme Couture then left (not by Thompson, just saying though)

sakuraba trained at chute boxe...i don't think it helped his striking though

and as the humungus said, kimbo said he didn't get knocked out by Forrest (i think it was), but that Dana White was spreading rumors that he was. given Dana's credibility, i'll have to believe kimbo on this

the only lesser fighter JT has lost too was Butterbean who couldn't even get off the ground in his last fight

guys like Fujita and Aleks aren't the best in the world but are very tough fighters, even the guys he lost to in the UK have more experience than Kimbo

thompson doesn't seem to have a very high MMA IQ and isn't very athletic

kimbo seems to at least carry out good gameplans and is pretty athletic

on paper, kimbo should finish him with relative ease. thompson will probably blow his load in the first few flurries, then he'll drop his hands, telegraph his strikes (even more so than he already does while fresh), and he'll be kimbo's bitch

he hasn't really had much in terms of gameplans in any of his MMA fights and the only thing that he gameplanned in his bare knuckle bouts were illegal takedowns when he was rocked

I'll concede that Kimbo is athletic...but so is Thompson...Kimbo just has more speed and usually more power

i'm not saying that he has a high MMA IQ or anything, but from his 3 pro fights, it seems as though he knows when to engage and when to step back. i'm assuming it's a product of his camp more than anything, but not an being Andy Wang counts for something
i guess that depends on your definition of "athletic" :dunno:

i see thompson as really sluggish (even for his size), has poor technique, and is pretty one-dimensional

Watch some of Thompsons fights from Cage Rage. The dude gasses quickly and has zero snap in his punches. Kimbo should take him out with ease barring any flukes.
