Maybe but whats the point? It only takes a few minutes to format a drive before installing whatever you are installing.
the point is to save money.
for home machines, i have no idea. for their servers, yes.
did they start shipping machines with ubuntu? that should be a no charge option....
I saw an article recent that said they were planning on it really soon, no idea if they've actually done it yet or not.
Yes, some configs will let you buy without an OS.
I just tried with a laptop, and it wouldn't let me select anything other than vista
Can't tell you any specific ones, but I've bought quite a fell Dells for work in the past few years, and I've seen the option for no OS on some of them.
You can always call Dell...
Either way, you are going to get the most basic OS by default with the machine so you probably aren't paying much if any for the OS itself.
