    capable via 3rd party apps

    Nokia N95 and Blackberry

Since BB is basically push email does anyone know if serviced providers are
allowing non BB phone to be used with BB service plans(unlimited GPRS)?

Am using a nokia N95 and would like push email function without the rapage from having a constant connection with my mail server.

Has anyone figured a goround or tweak to get wround this annoying hassle?

Mind you I am mostly in Nigeria and GSM plans are comepletley fucked

you could have the email server SMS your phone that you have a message, then you could do pull email. Granted not the same as a push service, but similar.

I don't think its possible, because for it to be a true push/pull device it would have to maintain a constant connection. So you would have 2 issues, one being that you need a phone capable of maintaining that connection, and two, the ability for the phone to automatically pull the info.

Its been a while since I've really been into phones, but last I checked that wasn't a common feature

obviously reading comprehension is not good here. I SAID YOU CAN HAVE THE EMAIL SERVER SMS THE PHONE WHEN A MESSAGE ARRIVES.

That means that in the process of receiving an email and alerting you, it's a mere 1 text message used!

You would need data to actually check the message, but you could determine from the SMS if that is worth it or not.

Isn't the real problem with the pull half of the equation, hence P07's suggestion of an SMS?

My Tilt does this through ATT....I think. I know I don't have to check for messages. It automatically does it for me. It could be that it is checking for me every minute or so as well.
