Why wont computer reboot when i click the reset button in the start menu?

    When when i go to reset w/ the nice little reset button in windows, it MAYBE 1/10 times will....dont get it

    there's probably a program running in the background that can't shutdown properly.

    Yeah because whatever program is messing things up is running all the time. Run msconfig and uncheck everything and see if it shuts down normally. Then add things back till it fails. My bet would be on a crappy antivirus like McAfee or Norton, spyware, or a virus/worm/trojan.
