today my first day back and decided to see where i was at, and i PRed my deadlift at 385x1... and did it again to make sure

Do you eat more when you're on a break?

And if you're chronically overtrained, a month off might really help :dunno:

My deadlift does better with less frequent training. My squat and bench press don't though.

like elfling said, you were probably overtraining.

pete sisco is all about huge long breaks and he has some numbers that back it up. he said he didn't go to the gym in six weeks and came back and PR'd in every muscle group.

its hard for me to decide what to believe when it comes to the dangers of overtraining, since there is so much evidence for both sides.

I noticed when I stared training again a year ago that my strength didnt drop much, but my endurance sure as hell did.
