Cons: Formats to 119.1 GB essentially it is a 120GB drive. Some manufacturers advertise Formated capacity others don't so if your shopping here the 128GB drives and the 120 GB drives are about the same.

    FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because there are still dumb motherfuckers out there who get pissy if they buy a 120GB drive and can't put exactly 120GB of data on it.

When I was working for a web hosting company, a guy bought a dedicated server with Windows on it equipped with two 160GB SATA drives. It gets set up, he logs in, and subsequently calls screaming that he only has 147GB of available HDD space and that's not what he paid for, so he wants his money back. We had to explain to him the concept of file systems, and the fact that the OS takes up hard drive space, etc.

He actually ended up canceling his server order over it. :wtf:

it's unreasonable to expect the average consumer to "get" the concept of formatted capacity.

if they want to advertise nice round numbers - 500GB, 1TB - then they should up the capacity until it matches that.

they could simply advertise what the consumer is actually getting ("147GB")

or they could educate the consumer, right on the box.

I know formatted drive sizes. 90% of people, if not more, don't read fine print.
