Im not flamin or nothin, just curious why a lot of military servicemen motivate others to enlist in the military when they are counting the days until their own contract is up?

    Because it is their job.

You get out of it what you put into it, and it's not all bad.

Some feel that it was the best thing they ever did, but they have no intention of making a career out of it.

While they may be getting out and can't wait to, you would be hard pressed to find someone who would make a different choice about joining if they could go back and do it again. It's not something you regret doing. I think that's why.

Many young folk need to mature, be held responsible for their actions, and learn leadership/followership skills. The military teaches all of these and provides many individuals with the tools to better succeed in the civilian world. Some people get out and then get back in when they realize the grass isn't greener in the civilian world. I work with two such people. There is at least one in Teh Brackacs.

Like it or not, you should be able to take the discipline and apply it to other aspects of your life outside of the military.

Because no bullshit, it set me up better than I would have been without it. If you can get past the first 2 years, you're golden.

Am I gonna stay in for 20? Probably not, but it's one of many very good options I have on the table that others most certainly do not.

I did 5 years in the Navy, the last two were pure fucking hell and made me a pretty bitter person on the whole Navy topic I guess, but I realize it was my individual experience and others will vary depending on where you're at and who you're serving with. Also what kind of person you are. As much as I hate the Navy now, I can honestly say I have nothing against it and would motivate people to look into it if they're curious. It was the greatest experience of my life, for sure.

It just simply, wasn't what I was looking for out of military service.

lol, this was my old account

I take back the "best thing they ever did part", but the fact that it provided a good stepping stone was good enough for me.
