Everywhere on the net where I've read about JL Audio amps (in regards to their power ratings) I've read all :ugh: comments about them.. I can understand if its the price thats leaving a bad taste with people, but is it just that, or more?

Specifically with their Slash series amps: 300/4 and 500/1.

you pay for the name, with jl audio amps... in the small market i'm in, i've seen way too many of them fail... for them to be considered quality... from my person expirence with them, i put them a step above sony amps.

i havent used them in a few years but when they first came out with there newer style amps I had good luck with them. Like all things, their quality has probably gotten worse every year though.

Decent, but over priced. Plus, a lot of people on the internet hate big national brands... Go figure...

Expensive, inefficent, dont sound any better than most decent amps, in SPL classes that rate by amp it kills you by putting you in classes with 4000w amps and what not.

they make about half as much power at 12.4V vs 14
    they arent efficient
    they are extremely expensive
    they are sensitive to vibrations

I wouldnt put them anywhere near sony.., but they sure as hell arent up there with other amps in the same price range.

I bet you own Rockfors Fosgate shit too.

Wow if you are going to talk about a product like that, know what the fuck you are talking about. They make full power @ 12.4 dumass. It's called Regulated Intelligent Power Supply. It doesn't matter if you have 12 volts or 15 volts, it's going to put out max power. I sold JL Audio amps for 5 years along with a shit ton of other makes. There are some better amps on the market, but when it comes to reliability, sound quality and power you can't beat them. I know what the fuck I'm talking about. I also own them. JL 500/1 on a 10W7 and a 450/4. No problems. I've had the 500/1 for 5 years and the 450/4 for 2.5 years.
