MIL Why is it that ROTC wears digis no matter where they go?

Is it a requirement? I'm thinking it's to promote/advertise the program or something to get other people to join. :dunno:

Oh, and there was a girl with a army PFC chevron on her chest, but she's in ROTC. How is this possible to make rank like that when it's an officer program? I am confused.

its their rank structure. The girl is probably a first year. the ssgt is a 3rd year with a squad leader role. digi's are worn when then do training or class and in a way its to advertise their presence on campus.

Ossifers wear the goofy looking circle things, but for some unknown reason they have the lower cadets sporting actual enlisted rank. In AFROTC, we have our own goofy ass looking rank structure.

also those ranks are differently shaped in that its all straight line unlike the real ones which are all curvy.

That girl could also be enlisted at the same time as she is in ROTC

    .

At my school only seniors wear the black dot or pip as they are called. Underclassmen wear the blank ACU square on their chest.

As far as Marine ROTC wearing only digi's, this is the only uniform, besides PT gear, that they have, thus they wear it everywhere.

Navy ROTC cadets can wear BDU's or the dress Khaki uniform

exclaimer: may be different at other schools

  10. It is to get them used to the rank structure of the real army.

  11. Also we wear class a's to dinning in and such.

Hey, at least ROTC has some purpose... My high school had scrawny JROTC kids walking around dressed like officers. It was a shame - all they did was drill, and I was in marching band (one of the better bands on the west coast at the time), and our drill shit all over thiers. They had no purpose, at least regular ROTC seems to.

Look closely and you'll see that ROTC enlisted rank insignia have no curvature; only straight lines. This is how you differentiate it from the real thing. (Army ROTC/JROTC)

I remember we had Air Force JROTC in my high school, and some geeky kid who no one liked started crying when he failed to get his "rocket badge."

to me it seems like they always say it out of context in my det. Agree with something somebody says during a briefing? give em a hooah. somebody mentions you in a good way? give em a hooah.

for me it's: Do you get why you are in the learning position and how to avoid it in the future? give him a hooah.
