I got to try out XS Big Dot sights yesterday at Tactical Response - Fighting Pistol in Atlanta. James grabbed a g19 out of his bag and let me shoot one for the whole day. I was scared to death when the first time I got to shoot them was on the dot drill with 1" circles at about 2-3yards. This drill was for learning the lesson of 'aim small/miss small'. I was like... shit... I'm goign to look like a tool missing the target or some such nonsense. Well, I covered the dot with my Big Dot (as James explained to do in his YouTube video) and while adding pressure one gram at a time and concentrating on the front sight until... BANG. dead fucking center on the dot. I put 5 rounds through 1 of the 1"dots. I'll scan the target if someone calls BS.

This wasn't even what absolutly sold me on them. The retreat to cover drill is what sold me. When I started retreating and aquired my target, the big dot pulled my eyes and really allowed me to get a great sight picture and follow through on the rapid shots. I dropped all 15 rounds into the heart and immediate area of the target because I used the trigger reset and Big Dots to my advantage. scanned...topped off...

Cliffs: Shoot big dots if you haven't. They WILL make you a believer.

So just how much larger than regular sights is the big dot? I've been debating night sights for a while and its between mepros and the big dots, I'm just worried that the sight wont fit in my holsters sight guide :o

I have a high noon tailgunner if it matters.

Also, anyone got pics of it installed on a 19? JW.

Oh and not calling BS but I'd still like to see the target :x:

    stand by...
I dont believe they stick out more than a few hundreths of an inch higher than mepros, I would wager a good deal of money that it would easily fit in your holster. Get these sights bro. Drink the KoolAid because it tastes SOO good.

Put the Dot on the bad guys heart or brain...sight picture...press...

i worked left to right top row then bottom.

Its amazing how obvious the trigger mash is on the middle targets... Slow down and let the shot happen...

Those diagnostic targets that have all the shit written on them are crap. You now understand that. You also understand what you need to work on to get your hits.

    now comes the question...

do I buy these before the FP class in late april, or go justifying to myself that I want to try them out first, get there, and be upset I didn't have them for the class?

Either way. Marksmanship is only a small part of surviving "combat". If you have the cash it's nice to train with what you carry, or plan to carry.

well, I need some sort of night sights for the gun... it stays behind the bed at night, and I want it to be as useful as possible... and it seems that if I'm going to get big dots, it'd make more sense to have them on the gun before I start training instead of after.

It's all just a matter of justifying the cost to myself.

Well, if you have the money and want to use them I would buy them in advance and take the class with them. During the class you'll get plenty of time behind them with coaching on their proper use if need be.

You don't NEED new sights to take the class though.

of course then comes the dilema of if I have them on my P99, should I also have them on my back up gun for consistency? ;)

It's a never ending hole in my wallet that is entirely too easy to justify spending money on.

I have Big Dots on all my fighting guns. I think they are the best fighting sights available and I like having a consistent sight picture.

Do you get the big ones, or the slightly smaller ones? Or do you have both?

Only Big Dots. The small dots are weak sauce.

Why would you buy big dot and get the small little girl dots?
