haven't read any in awhile. but why did it "go to shit"? did it lose its storyline, romantic drama, and general sense of direction? what was it? i'm too lazy to read them all and come up with my own conclusions so just tell me, alright? kthnxbye. :wiggle:

Oh, I thought I was the only one that was displeased with the direction they decided to take with it. I mean, they were doing great up through the "Most Dangerous Game" arc, which started on issue 50 or something. Basically, when Rogue went AWOL, the scope of the book reversed polarity and started looking at the high-schoolish nature of each of the members of the team. Not as much fighting and stuff. The cast just got too big and too whiny. Less plot, more pissing and moaning between Bobby and Kitty. Hooray for Bendis for stealing Kitty to his Spidey book (also boo for him because I hate her.)

there's been some shitty arcs, but every once and awhile you'll read the one that knocks your socks off. like return of the king, that was awesome.

come to think of it...they haven't used magneto in awhile, maybe we'll get another great run :hs:

BKV broke Magneto out, and Brian Singer asked him to do it coincedentally. However, Brian Singer ain't doing anything with the Ultimate X-Men, is he? Maybe it'll be like that new Silver Surfer comic they're making with Esad Ribic; 3 years in the making.

IMO when Brian K. Vaughan took over he took it all over the place and ruined it. I think that Vaughan is an otherwise great writer, UXM just didn't fit him.

I collected and read till issue 57 and then I just stopped. The thing that turned me off from this book was that I felt Professor X was the bad guy that controls his students mind. Not really reading the other X books either so I'm not sure if that is a comon theme. I was looking to get out from that title for a while and the end of an arc was a good jumping off.

Ultimate X-Men kinda sucks because Magneto is just pure evil, nothing like he was in most universes. Infact, he's a good guy and a hero in most universes, and even comes through when it matters in 616.

One thing to consider is that when you have a "school" full of nothing but kids in their teen years, you're GOING to have a fuckload of drama with people dating this person, and them wanting someone else. etc etc..

It feels like I'm reading The Young and the Restless but with mutant powers.

which isnt always a bad thing because the broads on that show are uber hot

Yea, he admitted to Scott to being in love with Jean. Then proceeded to crash the Blackbird/X-Jet and crawled to his explosive death.

    Pretty funny, all things considered...

See its that kind of drama that ruined it for me. You can't bring him back 616 style, and it was a stupid storyline to off such a major character in. Wolverine = Cable? That just seemed stupid.
