Track! Only had to cover two specific athletes so I wasnt there for long. Both were high jumpers. Pole vault was just for fun. Never shot either of them and angles were VERY limited.

I love the 1 and 10. I guess some of the others just don't appeal as much because they're like touching the bar.

I take butt-tons of pictures for the yearbook, I just never think they are worthy of being posted. I probably should post some though, get feedback and improve myself.

Do you prefocus on a spot and use manual or use AI Servo? Just wondering if the bar would cause any AF issues.

But here are some of the shots i've taken around my backyard while on pain pills and dying of absolute boredom...

To answer your question, I haven't picked up my camera to take any intersting photos for an entire semester. Lack of time and ideas, really :hs:

    Nice pictures. I really like 1, 10, 11 and 12

I shoot soo much now that I rarely even look at the photos anymore until they are printed. I just shoot, hand the card to the photo editor and get on my way.

With the pole vault I just prefocus for the shot I wanted. I didnt want them coming up and it was very hard for me (Im still new at this) to follow then up through the 400mm. So I just focused up top and let it happen. With the high jump, it was just AI Servo and keep the focus point on the athlete.

    meh

track meets can be difficult because of the generally cluttered backgrounds

work on your timing and moment selection

watch for peak action, be careful for oddly placed limbs or extremeties and try to get eye contact, otherwise the frames will tend to look lifeless and meh

and as mentioned earlier, border control... watch your backgrounds for crap, especially crap that happens to be white

Food? Srsly? I knew a guy who got real into that and I never realized how complicated it was. Seems like food is probably the hardest thing to light properly in the world.

food has 11ty billion trade secrets to making the photos come out looking good

great looking food by itself will usually look terrible on its own

get used to tilt shift and perspective control...

luckily someone in here was forced to train with a large format camera at brooks :mamoru:
