Could be a repost, but I couldn't find it on here.

Gun ‘Microstamping’ Bill Passes California Senate

The California Senate on Thursday passed a bill that would require the “microstamping” of semi-automatic handguns — giving cartridges fired from those guns a unique imprint, which according to gun control advocates, would help police solve crimes.

Supporters say microstamping would turn spent cartridges into potential evidence in civil and criminal cases. According the California Million Mom March, “when the police retrieve the bullet casing at a crime scene, they can quickly track down the legal owner of the handgun that fired it.”

It's not like people don't get their guns stolen and used in violent crimes or anything.

if people were smart, they would remeber how many shots they fired, and pick up the spent casings.

thefore this is just a silly law

I think it would be the firing pin that would make the imprint on the cartridge, sort of like how you can tell from a casing if it's been fired from a striker fired gun.

they like to be able to blame SOMEONE.

"You let your gun get stolen and used in a crime - you're just as liable since we can't catch the criminal."

This would have nothing to do with the ammo. However buying a "california" legal gun will be more expensive for sure.

Edit: And after actually reading the article, it still has to get thru the house. What a stupid, stupid piece of legislation.

Or you could attack your glock with a piece of sandpaper. Or use a revolver.

And if you are really going to think ahead, go to a range and pick up some casings and drop those instead.

I can see it now... "So, we tracked down the murder weapon to it's last legal owner, John Smith. It turns out that it was stolen two months ago and he already reported it."

"Damn, that's just one more crime to solve."

people who commit crime with guns are fucking stupid. Obviously the price of a gun is a LOT less than prison time. Cutting torch + gun = win.

Actually what would probably happen is manufacturers would give California the big "fuck you" like Barrett did. They can just say "nope, we aren't making a model with all the changes this would require.

That's probably what California is hoping for. If they can't ban guns at least they can make owning them such a pain in the ass that even the gun owners don't want to do business there.

That's exactly what they are doing.

It’s really sad; the state is run by a bunch of borderline socialists.
