idk, i saw a pfc on my 18 day r and r, at the beach wearing acu's, walking around acting like a fool, eating icecream, walking talking on cell phone. It was so hard to remember that I was on R&R.

  3. its almost embarrassing sometimes. after CTLT myself and some other cadet buddies were leaving to go back to our homes when one of the cadets arrives at the airport we're waiting in wearing ACUs.

we all were wearing civies and we all knew he had civies he was just looking for the attention. :o

also i know for rotc most bn's want you to wear your uniform to class and around basically promoting the army. i don't get an extra paycheck for being a billboard though so i don't do it.

i'm not talking about ROTC cadets, I am talking about Active Duty Army at places that you wouldn't be going to during the work day and on weekends.

I'm Reserve and tried to avoid being in Uniform as much as possible. I drive past the grocery store to go back home, change, and go back to the store to shop.

I hate stopping to get gas on my way to drill in cammies, even if paying at the pump.

But the commandant says we cant wear our uniform anywhere, and thats one of the few policies I agree with. It looks unprofessional.

However, after doing a supply run in the winter here our 7-ton broke down so we pulled into the nearest exit and went into a taco bell parking lot. Trucks breaks caught on fire. I let my guys go in and order their food to bring it back out to the vehicles.

Gas is one thing, a sit down restaurant is another. It is stupid, the new Navy cammies you cannot wear out in town, even to pump gas, yet every other service can wear their cammies out and about.

I can understand active duty soldiers around the base they are stationed at. Except to go out to eat, unless it's a PLT function or something. But when I go back home and some dude is in ACU's at the fucking mall or chillin at walmart.... that shit pisses me off and they shouldn't be doing that.

Thats just brownie points, bro. Would it be lame to come home from basic wearing your class A's so your family can see you in them right when you get off the plane?

I was actually going to make a thread about this.

I feel uncomfortable in public when in uniform and I can't understand why these douches keep doing it.

  17. for the record i've also seen navy guys in k-marts in annapolis

I went out last weekend to Savannah, and, lo and behold, there was a group of douches out drinking in their class As and blues. It was an instant reminder of my affiliation with the military and was a complete buzz killer. I'm going to start driving further and further away each weekend.

Werd, but we're not supposed to do it in the AF, and I call out every AF fucker I see in public in BDU/ABU's. They kinda look at me like "who the fuck are you??" I tell them I'm in a new AFSC called the fucking fashion police. I figure if I embarrass enough airmen in public, word will get around and that shit will stop.

But it was my understanding that the Army is allowed to wear the ACU pretty much wherever they want. Right? Wrong?? I think it's stupid as hell, but if it's allowed there's not a whole lot you can do but maybe roll your eyes and laugh.

We can't even do that technically. Our cammies are just like utilities, except for DIRE emergencies you cannot get out of your care inbetween base & home with them on.

Fucking gay. I don't think you should be able to go shopping, eat in a restaurant, etc in cammies, but you should be able to stop for gas to include going inside and paying for it and if you happen to buy some shit while you're in there who cares.

btw it's not uncommon for us to wear them to a restaurant off post. the DFAC of the base i'm visiting sucks dick and i'm currently detailed out to work there. i'd much rather eat at a restaurant than at that DFAC. regardless, i would not be caught past a 20 mile radius wearing those fucking ACUs.

In a nutshell it says you can stop to get gas, pick up milk or a loaf of bread, and go to a restaurant during your lunch break where other military people congregate. During duty hours at a restaurant I don't mind. It's when you see airman douche bag walking around the mall with his wife and kids after duty hours, still in uniform. That shit pisses me off. I've also had to call an airman's shirt because I walked into a bar and found a fucking two striper piss drunk in his fucking ABUs. Yeah, got the little shit's name and unit, called command post, and had his shirt called up. Sat there with the puking moron for an hour until the shirt arrived, was thanked, and he took him away. Usually I would look the other way if alcohol was involved (go ahead, call me a bad NCO if you want), but since this moron was in uniform and basically puking on the bar, I felt the need to make an example of him in the off chance there were any other airmen there watching.
