Whenever I update my Nvidia drivers (I have a Geforce 6600GT), I reboot and once it hits Windows the monitor goes off as if the refresh rate has been set too high or something. Anyone know why this is? I can boot in safe or VGA mode but changing settings there doesn't seem to have any effect when booting in regular mode.

    Please help :wtc:

incompatibility with software that may be running, shitty download, bad card..

uninstall it completely, and then reinstall?

I've tried uninstalling all the drivers beforehand but it didn't seem to help.. I got some app called Driver Cleaner so I'll try that.

    Thanks for the response

It might be that remnants from the old driver are incompatible with the newer driver. Check the NVidia website for a driver removal tool where it will get rid of all traces of the old driver....then install the new driver. I dunno if NVidia has such a thing but it's worth a look on their site.
