Seriously. Its always been my weakest link. I've got a decent set of lats (finally), my triceps are bigger and stronger than they've ever been. My pecs, well, as good as they've ever been. But my damn bench sucks. I've got decent form as far as I can tell. I really don't know whats holding me back. I'm thinking of taking a couple weeks off from flat bench, upping the weight on my db presses, and seeing if anything happens.

The good news is I have packed on a good bit of size since I started bulking, and I've made positive progress on every lift!!! 5x5 hurts my insides...but I love it.

1rm would put my squat somewhere in the high 400's, low 500's (havent made a 1rm attempt in some time, I'm usually way to burned out), I can pull over 400 on the DL, but my bench...may as well be nonexistant.

Just came off a modified bill starr 5x5. Currently working a 3day push/pull type split.
    Mon-back/biceps/abs
    tues-cardio
    weds-Legs
    thurs-chest/tris/shoulds
    friday-cardio
other core work gets thrown in where possible. gym is closed on weekends for the summer.

My chest lifts usually include flat bench, incline db bench, decline db bench, cable flies.

Honestly, a week or so ago doing the 5x5 for the bench, I bailed with 155 on the bar on the 4th rep. :(

    My bench owns me :(

Semi-wide grip i'd say...current gym doesnt have rings on the bar, so I'd say a few inches out from shoulder-width grip. Elbows out.

how many chest workouts do you do on thursday?

you seem like a big guy with your DL and Squat, much props.

probably just don't have good enough form yet or you are over training it to try and compensate.

Also, doing your chest exercises after doing tris and shoulders will definately decrease your number.

are you counting the bar or not? is that 155 or 200?

either way... your bench IS very weak.

Flat bench is usually the first lift. Usually, i work the flat bench to failure (6-8 rep range, stepping weight up every set), db bench to near failure, and flies to pretty good intensity (8-12 reps/set). Funny thing, I never really feel all that burned out after my thursday workout.

500ish raw @175 is a damn good squat (if its a real squat, not a blinger), seems like you have some decent base strength. Is it possible you have something either very wrong with your form or with your chest musculature? A guy I used to lift with was actually missing one of the muscles on the left side of his chest, which obviously held him up alot with lifting.

your shoulders are probably holding you back from a good bench. other than that...you might have a case of blinger squats or deez weaz pulls.

    Did he have webbed toes?
Thats a serious question. If he was missing a pectoralis major and had webbed toes thats a real disorder.

My bench sucks too.. i dead and squat ~300 but my bench struggles at over 150.

The funny thing is I can use 70s for dumbell presses.. so im sure that my barbell bench should be higher :(

I came to the conclusion that my shoulders SUCK strength-wise.
I'm going to do some serious shoulder specialisation soon and see what happens.

I don't know the exact name. A guy on my crew team is missing his left pec and has slightly webbed toes. Its a legit genetic disorder.
