Why does closing lid = instasleep

    there are utilities that will defeat this.

    also if you have a keyboard/monitor plugged in it will run closed.

    well, it would be nice if the screen would just turn off, but not the entire system stop dl'ing stuff and what not

    I think it would be smart if it just went into a low-power mode (screen off, CPU clocked down, etc) if you close it when it's plugged in. That would seem like a reasonably easy thing to do.

    you can make the display shut off in energy saver, just set it to turn off in 1 minute.... and set the hd to never shut off
