    I started at 5'8" about 185

I am getting my weight in protein grams this entire time (last 4-5 months) I'm now at 170 and ALL of my weights have gone down. especially squat.

i continued to lift as heavy as possible and eat as well as possible. Now, I haven't been counting calories, but obviously i'm in a deficit. 15 lbs over 4 months or so is really slow!! so why are my lifts down and the fucking love handles still there!??

    i dont get it.

where could I have gone wrong?? too little cals??

Maybe instead of just counting protein, you should count the calories this time around.

Contunue your Caloric (Average for Gain, to Lean 3000-3500) intake, and add Cardio at (4-5 days) of 20-30 INTENSE Minutes per Routine.

hard to say man, what kind of rep ranges have you been working with?

i think some people get away with little to no cardio and do it just on diet, and some people can't. In my experience, i can get down to ~1500 cals and still maintain strength. When i cut last year, i did NO cardio and it went quite well. On the other hand, you may need to keep your intake higher and create the deficit by burning more calories.

i would definitely start counting calories for a while so you can get an idea of where you are at.

That is one of your problems. I dont care if you think you are in a deficit or not, but if you are not counting you are going to have problems. You need to make sure that you have a regimented amount of cals coming in everyday and that you are taking in less than you are burning off. Find your maintenance and eat under it... Also, increase your cardio from 2 - 20min sessions a week to 3 - 30min sessions.

    maybe you are overtraining?

i would try keeping your protein intake high while lowering everything else. but don't starve yourself, just make sure your cardio is high enough so you creating a decent calorie deficit.

ok, my rep ranges have been between 5-10

    i usually do a 10,8,6,6 type deal

i'll up my cals and do more cardio. sucks, but i'll give it a go.

I would suggest a minimum of 3-30 minute cardio sessions a week while cutting

Someone want to explain the whole calorie out vs calorie in thing?

I run for 30 mins on the elyptical and it says I burn 3xx calories for that day. How am I supposed to eat less than 300 calories for a day? I know that makes no sense but thats the only thing i can come up with.

lol, you have to figure out how many calories you burn a day w/o doing any exercize. I think its 10-12x your bodyweight.

your body burns around 1800 calories a day just keeping you alive. (based on 150lb male, thus the average 2000 calorie a day diet) if you were to not eat anything and lay in bed all day, you would lost a pound of fat every 2 days (lb of fat = 3500 calories) in a normal day you will obviously burn more than this because you are walking around and doing things. all your cardio goes on top of this. say you burn 500 calories in cardio, then you should shoot for under 2500 calories a day to create a deficit.

:ugh: @ people telling him to do more cardio. I've lost 16lbs in 6 weeks working out 3x a week and the most cardio I do is walking from the car to the gym.

To the threadstarter, the reason your cut isn't going well is because you probably aren't getting proper nutrition. Count your calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat.
