I'm starting this because I don't want cogent, coherent posts in the main forum to be lost during a database purge.

    So quote people here:

    I'm starting with me.

    +1. Beat me to it.

I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. It's cliche, but it's true.

    • Because I read the paper and see the news every day. I see the reported robberies, muggings, rapes, and murders in those same papers that teach the masses that guns are bad and over my dead body will I ever allow any of those things to happen to myself or my family.
    • I went out, got special training, went through a background investigation, to include criminal databases and fingerprint checks through the FBI and I train every week at the local range to maintain my shooting skills. Any questions?

I am in NO WAY in any hury to shoot someone. That is the VERY last thing I would want to do in my lifetime. But I have a GOD GIVEN RIGHT to protect my family, self, home.
    • Because I have more of a chance of facing a criminal in my daily life than my home catching on fire and yet I have fire insurance.
    • Because I believe in the wisdom of our founding fathers and their view of the Second Amendment.
    • Because as a God fearing American, I have a responsibility to defend my country from a foreign enemy should it ever come to that. &&&
    • Because i'll never be the guy lying in a pool of blood watching my wife being raped wishing I had a gun.
    • Because those I love do not live in a perfect world and therefore as a man and a son/father/husband it is my responsibility to do everything in my power to keep my family safe.
    • Because the Constitution of the United States has afforded me this right.
    • Come on, don't you read the newspaper or watch TV? Nuff said.
    • Why do you have a spare tire in your car?
    • Why does your car have airbags, are you expecting to get in an accident tonight?
    • To protect my family and myself, and I take that responsibility seriously.
    • The Supreme Court ruled that the police have no legal obligation to protect me personally. So who does? You?
    • Because I can.
    • Because i'd rather have a gun in my hand, than a 9-1-1 operator on a telephone.
    • It's no different than any regular insurance policy you may have, you hope you never need it, however,if you do need it and don't have it then it's too late.
    • All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
    • For the children. ( )
    • I'll simply say that my life means so much to me that I'm willing to use deadly force to stop someone who doesn't value my life just as highly and believes my life and property is theirs for the taking.
    • What do you use -- or do you just bend over?
    • There are no evil weapons, only evil people.
    • Because I value my life and the lives of my family too much not to carry a concealed firearm.
    • Why do you wear a seatbelt? Are you planning on getting in a wreck tonight?
    • To defend myself and others from the crimes of men and the tyranny of government.&&&
    • The better question is, why don't you? Perhaps you enjoy being at the mercy of others?
    • An armed man is a citizen; an unarmed man, a subject.
    • Law abiding citizens need not fear me, it's the criminals who would stop at nothing to harm me to get what they want who should fear me.
    • Same reason you do. ---wait for them to say that they don't carry--- ....huh, you don't? Oh, you must be one of those dreamers that thinks you'll never need one since we all live in a perfect world, right?
    • Because a right not exercised is a right lost.
    • My gun is no different than a backup parachute, fire extinguisher, seat belt, crash helmet, personal floatation device, etc. My gun is a personal safety device and is no different than the aforementioned other personal safety devices.
    • I carry to protect myself and loved ones from any criminal attempts on our persons. What's wrong with that?
    • Because i'd rather be judged by 12, than carried by 6.
    • Because the national average response time for police officers to an emergency is more than 6 minutes, do you know the things a criminal could do to you or your family in that time?
    • Because i'm an American, and I can.
    • Why aren't you willing to defend yourself and your family?
    • Don't you have fire insurance on your home? Don't you have car insurance?

In todays world, only the truly sheltered fail to recognize that the safety and welfare of themselves and their family does not end at the front door of their house. I refuse to be a victim.

For protection of myself, and my loved ones, should I ever need to defend against the non-law abiding type.

I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Same reason you own a first aid kit, or a fire extinguisher, or insurance, or wear your seatbelts...

And I refuse to be a sheep.

Man I fucking HATE that question. If you try to explain it, you sound like a nut case. My parents asked me one time, I refused to answer.

It's all I have left from my very first car..

    1975 Ford Bronco

4" lift, 31" Goodyears, Holley 650 double pumper, Dynomax headers 302/C4 D44 Ford 9 inch... and I miss that truck every damn day.

    On topic,

I should add, that I meant non one liners, as those snappy one liners are generally cheesy and &&&&ish.

I would LOVE to carry, maybe i will if i go into law enforcement/ But in this state, guns are evil, so law abiding citizens are unqualified to carry evil devices,
