  1. Charge so much money for their services ?

I was at a tattoo shop today looking at the tattoo magazines they had display I saw a tattoo that was pretty cool, nothing fancy I have enough tats and did not plan on getting another one I was just curios so I asked how much he charged for the tattoo that I was looking at he said $400 bucks and that the tat would take 2 and a half hours to do I was like $400 for 2 and a half hours worth of work that's insane I was like ok no thanks then he was trying to convince me how he was such a great artist etc etc. yeah, right.

I mean these people aren't doctors or lawyers $400 bucks is way to much money to charge for 2 and a half hours worth of work , No fregin way

There's people out there with college degrees who don't make that much money an HR more less some burnt out old tat artist who looked like he had just gotten out of the joint Jesh

a lot of the cost is for equipment and sterilization... needles, pigment, paper towels, bandages, etc. you are also paying for a piece of art. its like buying a painting to place on your wall. you're not gonna haggle with an art dealer about a $5000 painting/sculpture so you shouldnt do the same with a tattoo artist. its on you for life and should be worth every penny you pay.

True. But paintings usually appreciate and last alot longer than your life. I do think $400 is quite alot unless it was a full sleave or similar in size. Maybe if it was extremely detailed in color and shading, I doubt I would pay $400. I am sure he would negotiate if you tried.

$400US for a sleeve? pass me some of those drugs you're on please. Paintings lasts as long as you're alive. Then it isnt yours anymore and you cant appreciate it.

lolz @ 400.00 a sleeve...a friend of mine is almost done with his and it's already at 1600.00.

  11. Yeah $ 400 ah sleeve would be dirt cheap

I have some awesome tattoos I have a powerful devilish looking type skull on my left shoulder blade and a gorgeous woman on the right shoulder blade.

The skull is drooling with his tongue hanging out at the woman on my right shoulder blade the chick is kind of like staring down at the devilish looking type skull, she's giving him a lusty look and has him hypnotized it's hard to explain because the tats have allot of detail.

One of my dads friends had giving me the tat with the skull when I was somewhere around 16 years old then various tat artist keep touching up the tat with a Lil shade, color and so on I always used to think the tat was perfect until tat artist keep telling me how they could make it look so much better.

I had most of my tats done, 90 percent of them were done by professionals' at the age of maybe , 17 and most of them were touch up after touch up jobs.

I just thought $400 bucks for the particular tat that I was looking at was way to expensive the tat had no detail not much color and was to small.

Then again I'm an old man so I no longer know whats cool and hip anymore

My tattoo artist charges $100 an hour. I do think that $400 for 2 hours is steep, especially for flash.

I'm just blown away that you only got like 5 hours in (assuming you don't tip like a cunt) for 5 sessions...especially if you had to drive 2 hours each way. :dunno:

i believe you get what you pay for, unless there are hook ups involved. As Almighty said it's on you for life so i think paying more for quality work is worth it.

If I remember right my fiancee did. The guy was near the end of his apprenticeship and I'm pretty sure he got it done for free.

It really depends where you go. In Austrialia I paid around 400 bucks for a 2 hr session. In San Diego, I average about 200 bucks for 2 hr sessions. My best deal was 130 for a 5 1/2 hour session. That was in a small town in central Cali.
