I have a spreadsheet that took a short amount of time that I've been using for over a year. It calculates totals (cal, fat, carb, prot) and % (fat, carb, prot). I just enter the nutrition facts for what I'm eating into it. Does Fitday have other features?

IMO the list of recent and custom foods is the most convenient feature. I wrote shit down for 2 1/2 years and now I just use FitDay because it's that much more convenient.

ease of use, mostly... put in custom foods and the such, but i guess you could do that with a spreadsheet

i also check/update my fitday from work and stuff, so there's that too

because I don't want to make a spreadsheet and input a bunch of shit. This way I took some time and loaded up the nutrition info for like 15-20 regular items that i consume, and now I almost never input anything new into it... I just go, click on the custom food that I just ate, input the serving number or size of the food, and I'm good to go.

Take your fancy milliondollar spreadsheets and cram them up your ass. Some of us just like the convenience of the food database and the ability to get to it from anywhere.

it sure is... I was gonna have a nice big burger on saturday to commemorate a week of caloric deficit and pretty low carb intake on clean ass foods, but now I think I'll have to skip it since I got my weekly cheat in :wtc:

when I live on my own it won't be hard at all to eat clean i think... cause right now I'm surrounded by candy and cookies and bagels and shit and it definitely increases the difficulty of staying on course.

    its not :dunno:

its been recommended around here for years

to the OP, I've done both, ad while the spreadsheet def works, Fitday's list of foods is a big plus.

not too mention, its easier to access for people who don't carry around a copy of the SS on a USB drives or a pda

    Fitday is better because:

I can access it from anywhere. I have more than one computer, plus an iPhone, so it's handy that the log is on the internet. I can update it whenever I want without having to carry around a spreadsheet on a USB stick.

It has pre-programmed foods for times when you haven't cooked for yourself, or for when your packaging doesn't have nutritional information (i.e. chicken breast from a farmers market)

Plus all the other features like weight tracking, setting goals etc... they can be quite useful.

Did you seriously entitle your thread "WHY do people use fitday?" and then say "I've never used fitday" in your post and give a "better" solution?

How can you judge it if you've never used it?

I've never used it to track my diet. I've inputted a couple food items and have seen that it does what my spreadsheet does. It would be nice to access it from anywhere though, but I normally plan my diet out before I leave home so that's not such a big deal.
