if you're already on at&t just do it.

worst case you sell your 4GB on ebay if you hate it

they wont be around much longer so hurry!

    ps: i love mine.

v2 is a LONG way away, just get it.
plus, maybe they will just sell the "v2" software as a download for the v1 iphones as a BIG firmware update.
wasnt that the whole idea of not having any buttons, so they could update/ change things.

Apple's never really been big on unlocking new features with a firmware upgrade. The 5g and 5.5g iPod Video's are good examples of that. They'd sooner release a whole new model w/a few new features.

I'd say hold out for either 3g, or a break in the contract agreement. 2 years is just fucking punishment if you end up hating AT&T. Unless you pay the extra $100 to unlock it.

I got a 3g ipod early, and firmware updates were always exciting because it was constantly getting faster & new features. That was a long time ago tho.

I am really supprised that they havent added any new iphone features yet :(

    Same boat, 8525 here :wtc:

I've only had it a year, but the iPhone is so tempting. I think I would miss the full size keyboard of the 8525 though. I'm sure I could type faster on my 8525 than iPhone. If only you could go landscape in e-mail, SMS mode too :x:

Plus I just paid for another year of Missing Sync so it makes me want to keep it more :coolugh:

MissingSync is a yearly subscription based program? :ugh2:

Anyone interested in an iPhone now, but doesn't need it, has to wait for the next version. And shame on you MacShack members who can't see this coming based on Apple's previous records with new hardware.

I bet you see something new come late Winter or early Spring. He wants to push these out like crazy for the holidays and the price drop is going to clear inventory really easy.

No, I had to upgrade to the latest version of MissingSync because I upgraded my 8525 to WM6.

shit I know what you mean pineappledevil.

I actually hadn't used one until yesterday, a guy at work got one so i finally caved and played with it, and holy fuck is it cool.

but i can't justify spending the money yet. If apple can do 16 gigs of memory and 3g, then I'm sold. The lack of the 3g is the worst thing for me, i dont mind 8 gigs, I have no problem syncing everyday, but the EDGE is just too damn slow for me.

Also they need to fix that fucking headphone jack problem so I can use my SHUREs on it without some weird adapter.

But anyway, the thing is fucking baller regardless.

EDGE is not even that bad, i dont know why everyone is all about 3G.
maybe I'm just in good service areas, but my EDGE connection is pretty quick

Since when did 70Kbps even come close to comparing to 1300Kbps? Because that is the difference in speeds between EDGE and EVDO Rev_A. Even with older EVDO towers you'd still expect about 700Kbps -- So true "3G" nets you at least 10x the speed. Big difference, imo.

for basic browsing and email crap, ISDN speed is fucking fine... i seriously don't see the complaint in EDGE.

Holy hell, I had to use a salespersons 8525 today and I wanted to smash the thing against the wall. Windows Mobile is fucking trash and IMO very unintuitive. All I was trying to do was take some photos and email them to myself and that proved to just be a fucking pain.

Most of it was because I was unfamiliar with the device, but it also points out how un-user friendly the device was. One thing about Apple's stuff is that sometimes when you want to do something and you wonder "Hey, I wonder if I can do it this way..." and you try it, it works. I couldn't find an easy way to attach multiple attachments to an email. Dragging over a few to select them didn't work, so I had to do each one one at a time. When I had to email more later, it didn't remember my email address nor did it have anything in the "sent items" folder for me to retrieve the address, so I had to retype it on that tiny fucking keyboard.

correct. I have owned a couple of WM phones and they are just bricks.

they are not hard to use, but you always fell like you are doing things the long way.

I am yet to try an iphone though.

I want one so bad as well, however I just can't justify the switch to AT&T. Verizon is the best carrier around, I can't switch.

I don't know how much FUD this is...but there is strong speculation/evidence that the 3G iPhone will be here very soon:
