Every mention of them i see always gets a "" in the response.

But why? I shot one last night and I didn't think the kick was all that bad, it felt like a pretty solid pistol. Besides price and the price per round ($1 bullet ain't cheap), what makes them a "bad gun"?

It seems that any pistol featured in some piece of shit video game is automatically "bad" because it is featured. It is def not the firearm i would use for the first line of defense (CCW), it would be a "fun" piece to own and shoot. Is that more the reason (unlikely CCW firearm)?

i have one in .50AE and love it. but i'm a recoilaholic and like the fact that it is a huge cumbersome hunk of metal. some people dislike it for those reasons.only problem i have is that it is very ammo sensitive which leads to some failures. there are some who dog it cause it isn't the most well made gun around. you also have the counter strike "experts" and the like that think it's the end all be all handgun. and either buy one and claim such or tell everyone who's looking for a gun to get it cause it's the best. bottom line is this..like every thing in life, some like it some don't. if you like it, cool. if you don't, cool. variety and options are what make life interesting. if you want one and can legally get/own one, do it. if you don't, don't. i'll not make fun of or think less of you either way so long as the decsion was made by you for your reasons.

I dont think they are laughing because it's "bad". It's just that, it's not very practical. More of a novelty.

Mrbill hit it, it's mostly because video games and movies have glorified it to the point were people who would be better served learning with a revolver or a Glock 19 are ogling a gold plated 2lb monstrosity.

I'd buy one for the novelty of having a .50AE, but there are too many more practical or collectible guns I'd want first.

Thats the way I looked at it, it would be the same as having a .50 rifle, i mean a $4,000 gun you can hardly shoot anywhere :o

i guess if you can afford it, there is no worry :o

    I have a IMI DE .50

Its fun as hell to shoot, but it is pointless, expensive to shoot, and true the recoil isnt bad it is a long full stroked kick, not that of like a super snappy sub compact.

But the gun itself feels shitty for how much it costed. The trigger isnt as tight at some of my other guns, and the saftey is horrible to work, not to mention it takes a giant to load the damn clip, so fucking tight, and I have left it loaded for so long hoping to compress it....

    Eh.

my understand is, it's not the compressing that weakens the springs, but the constant compressing, and uncompressing.

yup, constant compression does very little to fatigue the metal and make loading easier.

cycling the spring will do it faster.
