Why can't Toyota produce something worthwhile for the money?

Don't get me wrong, the GT-S is a good car, but for nearing $25k for a well loaded model, I could walk out with a WRX, well loaded RSX-S, or a number of other cars far better looking/more powerful/equally reliable. The MRS is the same way... IMO, Miata is a better buy for the $.

Gone are the days of an affordable, fun to drive Celica or badass Supra. :wtc:

You realize how much the Supra's were new right? :ugh:

new toyotas are starting to suck. their cars look like bubbles. buy a mazda or a vw or something

Yeah, but they don't offer any kind of badass sports car anymore. Unless you want a plain-vanilla commuter, you're out of luck. With Toyota's reliability and build quality, if they produced something affordable with some balls and good looks, they'd make a killing.

We never got the REALLY sweet one (prior generation style). Most of the older ones I've seen are in bad shape. :wtc:

:werd: Our Toyotas kick ass. The old Ford Thunderbird we had was actually more reliable than our current Acura TL :hs:

They ARE. Given their rebates and interest rates right now, they're also one of the most affordable cars in the class (sub-$20k). For MSRP, yes, you can do better, but for $18k flat for a 1.8T GTI, it's not too shabby.

Even still, Both Toyota and Honda have excellent histories of uber-reliable cars... Yet Toyota doesn't produce anything worth a damn for enthusiasts, and Honda turned the Si into a goofy little minivan. :hs:

The Protege5s are pretty slick (and quality), Miatas have been known to be one of the most reliable used cars on the market, Mazda 6 (albeit having first year glitches) is an award winner many times over, and the RX-8 is a no-brainer.

Only Mazda I can think of that's currently produced that could be considered junk would be the Tribute. I don't know enough about the MPV to say one way or the other.
