    Why ??

I walk into the store, I decide I must have one.. but dont want one

then have it on the cart and decide I dont want it :(

I think its the idea that it makes my accessing of my guns harder but cant put my finger on it :(

Making it harder to access your guns is the whole point. I love mine. I keep all kinds of stuff in it (documents, extra money). Also Having a stolen weapon used in a crime is a pretty large motivator for me having a safe.

Do what I do always have a couple out. My CCW of the day and my WASR are always out of the safe, 590 and a few c&r's under the bed too.

I think I worked out why I dont want one.. How the hell am I going to fit a beltfed into the safe?

A 10 gun safe with my beltfed and AR will be just about full. :(

At first I was like, "Why the fuck would you advertise that you own a stolen weapon that was used in a crime, let alone that you've got it stored in your safe" but then I realized what you meant :o

Its a good idea, I need to look into making a mod to my safe like that, I'd like to be able to keep some other valuables up on the shelf.

I've got a tall wide body 30 rifle on my wish list at cabelas.com.....Just waiting for my cabelas card approval so I can get 2% back + $10 off my first purchase:naughty:

Not sure if waiting 10-12 days for the approval is worth $42.

I need one too, but damn it's expensive for a good one. I want one big enough for my long guns and hand guns with a place for the wife's big ticket jewelry too so I'm looking at at least a grand for a decent safe.

I wanted to do something like this, but I was told (I don't remember by whom now) that putting holes in it with the screws lowers the fire rating effectiveness of the safe. I was gonna use velcro, but I couldn't find anything good enough to hold up the weight of some handguns.

Right now I just have a little handgun rack on the top shelf :hs:

I just realized that there are still handguns on the top shelf and in the bottom of the safe in that pic:o

While we're on the subject of safes:

What form of desiccant works the best? The golden rod, or one of the various rechargeable crystalline types?
