I currently have a Canon PowerShot s3 IS and love it alot and plan on getting a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS

And here's something I copied from the specs

    Min shutter 15 sec

    WHY?!?

    Why not 30 or 60?

Are they afraid of making the DSLR owners angry or something? Other camera brands have done it.

Ever since I found out that the S5 only had 12x zoom(just as the S3) have I been waiting for a new Superzoom Powershot hoping it would have a 30 second shutter option.

But I still do plan on getting it w/e

CHDK, if I remember correctly, will allow the shutter to be open up to 65 seconds. Doesn't look like they have a release for SX10 IS, although they have one for the S3.

If you really want to experiment with long exposure times, a compact camera isn't going to cut it. Invest in a used DSLR and you'll be much happier.

I've got an S3 with CHDK and eventually got a D30. I only use the S3 for video now.
