    So are Bren mags (I think) but there is a big difference between a full sized rimmed cartridge feeding vs a tiny 22lr with its rims.

    i think the reason is fucken large 7.62 x 54 rounds are less likely to get jammed than tiny rimfire

    x54 rounds are big bastards easy to manipulate in the bolt face etc.

    they make doublestack 50 rnd mags for the ruger 10/22, but I don't know how well they work. it'd be much better to try to develop some sort of drum mag instead of simple double stack.
