Everyone I know downloads most of the time at 100+ kb/sec, but torrents for me usually go at around 1-2kb/sec. Once in awhile I'll get around 20, but nothing really worthwhile. I opened ports 6881-6889 so what gives?

I've had that problem in the past and forgot exactly what I did to fix it. Whenever I plugged in my router, opened the ports, and started downloading torrents they would be really slow and often times wouldn't connect at all--even with the proper ports open and redirected towards my workstation. As soon as I unplugged the router, I was getting rather quick downloads and all was happy. I did remedy the situation behind a router, I just forgot how.

Check this link it, it may have what you are looking for, it may not.

If you are not sharing out then you will not get very good speeds.
