Was there any specific incident that led them to go all Nazi on a piece of metal tubing that makes a gun quieter? :dunno:

I can understand regulating full autos and grenades. I can even understand short barreled rifles and shotguns, even if it is completely retarded.

Because it makes murder too easy to get away with. I mean, even a suppressed M4 just goes *pshhhh* and you can't hear it in the next room. Makes sense to me. :hsugh:

Thats what I've always heard, makes sense given the great depression, at least to a degree. Personally I question how many people that broke would be spending money on a can even if it was relatively cheap but...

Remember, the NFA was done a long time ago when the gangsters were running around. Silencers, SBRs and machine guns were their weapons of choice and so these things seemed good to restrict. It hasnt been modified since.

So that $200 stamp was big money back then. Not so much now.

Do any WMDers have any of the old, "wipe" style suppressors?

The same reason SBRs are restricted.

this whole tax stamp thing is silly and so it the 1986 fully auto restriction

but what i find real silly is that a Krinkov/AK74SU is illegal due to the <16" barrel and stock BUT an AK pistol is a AR15 pistol is legal?

A stock is a good thing is it not?

I know the AK pistol type thing is a loophole but you'd think that someone would have to brains to realise a 10" AK or AR isn't gonna be the end of the world while an AK or AR pistol pretty much the same thing but harder to use with no stock.

I'm pretty sure that the mob gangsters and such didn't use suppressors. That's what McCarthy and Feinstein would lead you to believe but I don't think suppressors were used in crimes very often.

Like everyone has said, they're not silencers and I bet back then they sucked even more at sound suppression. :dunno:
