Buddy of mine just joined the gym and wants to lose some weight. So me making the assumption, and I was right, that he didnt really know what he was doing I tried offering some advice.

I asked him if he is counting his calories and he said "yeah, I've had 6 today so far":rofl:

So I'm trying to help him out and explain to him that if he is exercising in the gym 4-5 days a week he should be eating around 2200 - 2500 cals a day or so. And all I get in response is "dude I'm trying to lose weight not bulk up like you...I'm keeping it between 1400-1900 cals a day"

why are people like this and just don't listen....they have this general conception of losing weight = diet = starve yourself :dunno:

he is one of my best buddies and I'd like to see him do this right and actually lose some weight, he cut out soda and eats like nothing, dropped 15lbs in a couple weeks and thinks "welp this must be the way to lose weight" :hs:

I wanna help him but for some reason he thinks he knows how to lose weight despite being 50lbs over weight :dunno:

His way will cause him to lose weight, he just probably won't stick with it. I think most people are allowing common sense to play too large a role.

the fact that he thinks he knows it all and is giving me the :ugh: face to all my advice pretty much tells me he will stop going to the gym in about 2 months

I think telling someone to eat "2200 - 2500 cals a day or so" when leaning out is pretty :ugh: myself unless hes a giant.

I drop weight eating 2200-2500 cals a day while doing cardio 4-5 times a week with no problem

I have a couple buddies that are like that with gaining mass. I've tried helping them before but they don't get it so now I just nod my head and agree with whatever they're saying.

    I maintain at 2200 :dunno:

Kidding... have no idea what my caloric intake is. Almost ate a whole large Extravaganza pie from Domino's yesterday.

I've heard some pretty stupid shit at parties.

One kid was talkin about how he pinned up roids, said he took the whole vial and pinned it in his ass. I thought that was pretty comical.

The gesture he made with his hands gave me the impression he was talking about a 10ml bottle.

The recommended average intake is around 2000 calories for your standard male adult to maintain a healthy weight.

Give or take for height/weight and there you go.

How tall is this dude and how much does he weigh, 2500 calories seems like it would be maintenance for most fat dudes.
