Guy on another forum bought D300, and now he's asking the forum about the cheap ass 18-55 VR kit lens that comes on the D40. Wants to "expand" his collection. :ugh:

People think expensive camera = good pictures, just like they think good body = good pictures and lenses don't matter.

Retards, they're all over the place.

the first thing anyone told me was to invest in good glass, bodies are disposable. Always have, always will. :hs:

That is odd. I've always been planning ahead. Once I learn more about what I want to shoot and what I'll need to shoot it, then I'll plan on finding lenses that will be just as useable on a better body when the time comes.

Exactly.... what good is all the fancy sensors and other trick items if your looking through crappy glass. Same goes for shooting (guns) the general rule i've been told is your scope should be equal or 1.5X the price of the gun.

Who cares what equipment he uses. Go out and take some pictures instead of caring about what some stranger on a random forum has for lenses. His kit in skilled hands could take way better pictures than some gear head with a bunch of 2.8 glass.

    This pretty elitist talk:
"my daily walk around lens is 28-70 f/2.8... a.k.a the beast. Nothing less."

Not everyone has an uncle that can sell them "the beast" at a cheap price. I have a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 as my walk around lens on my D300 and although the IQ is not as good as the Nikon it's still a great lens.

Its not that it 'bothers' me, its just that after he posted about it and people commented about good glass, he tries and defend his decision to no end. Doesn't bother me because I chose to invest in glass. Its almost like he didn't want to hear it. :dunno:

yes, thats elitist talk :)hs:)... but after my first post,he PMd me. The guy is new and I guess nobody ever told him to invest in good lenses/glass. I told him to go look around the NikonCafe's Lens Lust section to get some ideas. I wasn't trying to talk 'down', just told him he has a great camera and he needs better lenses than what he has now. ;)

Thats because I sold my other lenses to fund this one.

Even the Tamron is a great lens over the 18-55. Putting that lens is like buying a BMW and changing the wheels to steel wheels w/ hubcaps on it. Makes no sense. :dunno:
