a guy i know lost about 30 pounds and suddenly he is the expert on eating right and being healthy. sure he might have learned something along the way, but it doesn't give him the right to make negative comments about everything everyone eats.

he is on some low protein diet too :mamoru:

Sounds like he became fat due to ignorance of how food/calories/macros etc work, and once he discovered the "rules", he's sorted his life out and lost weight.

Now that he knows how it all works, he's probably going around preaching about it because - in his way - he's trying to stop anyone else getting like he did, consciously or not.

Only it's probably coming across like he's being a twat.

I'm a former fattie and while I don't consider myself an expert (except at being Elite :hsugh:) I do think I have learned a lot in the past 6 months. So I feel somewhat qualified to give dietary advice to others when asked.

Well if he just lost an assload of weight then why shouldn't he act like he lost an assload of weight? He must know how to if he did it.

I lost a lot of weight, but I didn't know jack shit about what I was doing. I just dropped the amount of food I ate by a lot and stopped drinking sodas.

No exercise except an occasional run and a shitty diet overall. It was only after my weight loss that I really began understanding the right way and the wrong way to do things.

i think he's talking about the guy that goes from 310 to 298 because he went from a KFC bucket to a medium meal + started drinking crystal light - not you fatasses that did diet research and lost a ton of weight. The d-bag that chews sugar free gum and gives everyone diet advice, even though he looks like two of them tied together

You were the fatty with a good amount of lean muscle. The TS is probably talking about a fatty with little muscles (i.e. synthetic) that think they're the shit.

Normally, you get humility instead. After dropping 80+, I realized that there is no excuse to be overweight if you don't WANT to be. Problem is that most people don't want to be fat, but that is different than wanting to be healthy. People come up to me like "omg omg what do you eat" or "tell me what I should be eating every day". Fuck that. If anyone here can figure it out, so can you. Problem is that you just don't want it. The so-called experts fall into the latter category, but on the opposite side. They don't really want to help anyone get healthier, rather, they just want to state that they know how to do it for themselves.

Isn't there a saying something like:

When you start out you think you know everything, but when you're experienced you realise you know nothing

And FWIW, I think everybodys experience is different. I've been the skinny guy bulking up.. I've never had to lose 100lbs of flab. And I find losing fat pretty easy. But I'm sure somebody 300lbs would say that gaining strength is easy and losing fat is hard.

I guess if you wanted the best persons advice to follow it would be someone who did what you want to do - i.e. someone skinny bulking up or a fatass transforming himself into a hunk.

    lol.

People are always coming up to me and asking me 'what my secret was'.

    I was just honest.

    Exercise more and eat less/better.

And they look at me stunned and all 'Thats it?'

    Yup. Thats it.

There was a point after I lost about 50lbs that everyone at work noticed and was commenting on it for a few days. All the middle aged women kept asking me what my secret was. They were very disappointed to hear me say "eat less, exercise more."

    i think its fairly reasonable.

So many people don't understand the basic rules of calorie in vs calorie out. They just can't comprehend it. Thats why you hear people trying to eat 'healthy' foods thinking they will magically lose weight, if you told them how simple it was their lives would be changed for good
