Why are both Honda and Acura the preferred car manufacturer for riceboys?

Discussion in 'OT Driven' started by ShArKy's_IsLaNdRaVe, May 8, 2003.

  1. I'm not sure if this was ever posted in the main forum or this forum. On an average day, no matter where I go, I see younger Asian guys (about my age) driving around in their modded Acura Integras/RSXs and Honda Civic, Accords, or Preludes. How come they prefer these manufacturers over other imports (and of course domestics) out on the roads? Not hatin' on them cuz I'm Asian & I like these cars inside the "cockpit" and outside, just want to clarify this.

Wrong forum, but anyways.. most asian parents are the ones who tend to buy these cars for their kids.

Asian parents in general have a perception that American cars are less reliable, hence they buy their son's and daughters Japanese cars.

German cars tend to be too expensive with the exception of VW but most Asian parents are 1st generations that may not understand how good or bad VW maybe.

and you can make your honda look exactly like the 5 other white honda civics on your street!!!! wOOOOOO Woooooooooo!

  10. Seems like most stores (Kragen & Pep-Boys) would probablly sell aftermarket performance parts cheaper (and garages would provide cheaper labour to install them) for these manufacturers, and not the other manufacturers.

    BIG BORE EXHAUZT AN' NAWTZ!!!

they used to be cheap, and everyone has a friend, or a friend of a friend, with a b18c5 turbo crx ripping on i/h/e ls1's *rolls eyes*

turbo b18c5 is wrong is so many ways, i won't get into it. it just makes the real honda enthusiasts look bad though.

riceboys suck, throw rocks at them >_<

news flash: hondas are not cheap, but they are easy to mod, for a buttload of money.

cheap and easy to mod: fox body into 12's (i said cheap)

old ass beaten up camaro + crate motor

mk1 miata w/1.6, add turbo and racing beat suspension and you have a cheap car with some balls that turns REALLY fast

civics have their draw, there are just a lot of alternatives (many more than i mentioned here).

i think part of the draw IS that most people think hondas are cheap and easy to mod. it's still pretty damn expensive to make them exceptionally fast either in a straight line or around turns.

no matter, people need to mod the DRIVER more often than the car :)

News flash: Most ricers don't care whether their car can run 12's, they care that it looks like it should run 12's and that you can hear its stereo coming a block away with the windows up.

you realize that a system that can thump that hard, and keep doing it day after day, is neither cheap nor easy to build, yes? :)

i know it's hard to break out of that silly habit of assuming civic = loud and rice, but you can do it!

i thought the cheap/easy to mod was referring to me talking about them driving DSMs :dunno:
