I'm going to have to do some serious looking at some of the third party's stances and voting records.

I wish we had some middle of the road candidates instead of out in the wings. I always feel election time that I'm the odd man out, seems a views like civil unions for all (gay and straight) let the church deal with marriage and guns for all, doesn't really go with most of the world.

So I am voting for Emperor Lrrr of Omicron Persei 8

Probably writing in Ron Paul, or maybe Chuck Baldwin if he's on the ballot.

McCain's the same Liberal Republican he was a few years ago, he's just putting on a good show for the base now a days. Pallin is the only real person on the ticket.

I care about the economy, so Obama.

I'm confident there are way too many more important issues, along with smart people in Congress which will keep any type of new gun law from happening.

His social programs will kill the economy too, so I wouldn't count on him pulling any magic out of his ass.

Pretty much. We're fucked either way we go.

Might as well be fucked with a nice gun by your side. :dunno:

  13. Let's not forget how this whole economic mess came about. The democrats pushed real hard for the FHA lenders to start handing out loans to people who shouldn't have qualified for home loans. It worked well for a while, and people who couldn't normally afford homes started buying property. Of course, nothing lasts forever and there were good reasons those people shouldn't have been given loans. As they began to default in droves we saw the current unravelling of our financial institutions.

This is a somewhat simplified overview of what happened, as there were obviously more entities than Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac involved, but it's worthwhile to take a look at the roots of this problem, lenders contributing lots of money to the very people who sit on committees who regulate them.

Obama took over $105,000 from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for his role. The only people in congress who took more money were John Kerry and Chris Dodd. It's amazing how quickly these politicians forget who let the cat out of the bag. Now you'll see Obama casting blame at the republicans and claiming that he has the answers yet again. Hopefully his answers are better than the ones that he led us into this mess with.

See the Community Reinvestment Act http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Reinvestment_Act

And Community development financial institution http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_development_financial_institution

 Lets force banks to give loans to "under served" (read poor, bad credit) and NOTHING will go wrong!

Oh lets also lower interest rates to the lowest rates ever to help out give these loans.

So, when banks wouldn't give out loans they were "racist" - but now they gave the people loans they were "taking advantage" of poor people

There are a lot more important offices up for election than the president and as Illinois residents, president should be the one we're least worried about. Perhaps most importantly I'm voting for a constitution convention.

Should have known the lies would start early.

he took money from the employees of the company. What does that have to do with anything?

And you really want us to believe our economic downturn was caused by democrats? Has nothing to do with the last 6 years being entirely republican control in the white house and congress? trillion dollar war debt?

Yup, lets just keep doing what we're doing, i'm sure the McBush plan will work itself out in 30-40 years.

Hell, we're basically at rock bottom now, only way to go is up.
