When the current best fighters in the world are discussed, these 4 guys come up time and time again:

    Fedor
    GSP
    Anderson Silva
    BJ Penn

It's pretty much the same list from pro fighters, coaches, media and fans.

That list is pretty much indisputable bar the fact that a lot of people plain don't like Penn, and Penn is on that list for pure freakish talent and some unfulfilled potential (despite having 2 different belts, fighting at numerous weight classes and being head and shoulders about his natural division).

But who, if anyone, is outside this top 4 and on the verge of breaking in, and why?

Come the middle of 2009, what will this list look like?

Noguera is the number 5 with out a doubt. 31 - 4 - 1 and he has only lost to the best of the best. Barnette, Hendo and Fedor (twice) in pride he took out the best and his fights with fedor were legendary. I have never seen any one aside from cro cop push fedor to the level noguera did. He is undoubtebly the number 5 pound for pound fighter out there.

He has wins over Tim Sylvia, Heath Hearing, Josh Barnette, Fabricio Werdum, Cro Cop, Rico Rodriguez, Semi Schiltz, Bob Sapp, Mark Colemen, Enson Inoue, Gary Goodridge and Jeremy Horn. Big Nog is the shit. Hopefully he will be able to cement this fact by taking out Mir and then capturing the UFC HW title from Lesnar

I would have said torres because hes so damned dominant in his division but there arent that many bad ass bantam weight fighters to test him. Maybee Jens should drop down again I think he could make bantam weight lol. Machida I was thinking the same thing two but I think Nog has done alot more in his career then either of those guys to justify it.

Maybe not top 5 right now but jorge Santiago's streak has been really impressive andhe's making his way up quickly.

Torres no doubt... I would have said Faber prior to the Brown loss... He might be back in the discussion though after a few more wins...
