i'd pick evan tanner, yes he's not the greatest fighter in terms of speed, strength, or natural ability, but i think he brings in a well balanced game plan & executes it pretty well. So, based on that i thnk he'd be an excellent person to learn from.

i'd like to learn from gsp as well, but i think his success is coming from the fact that he is so naturally strong, fast, & has great natural instinct. Ya know, things that just cant be taught.

Tanner has a good game plan except for in his title fight against Rich Franklin haha.

GSP would be a good coach, I have his video's he does a great job in an instructor role plus he is very passionate about his field of expertise. And I think for any coach, passion about what they are teaching is the primary necessity.

Personally, I think you could put just about anyone in that coaching role who is a pro fighter. if Fedor was a UFC fighter he would be great to have on there.

Royce Gracie, ya I know more fuel for the Gracie machine, but the guy could probably teach something in the 2 months time he has.

with tanner against franklin & louiseau... sometimes youre just too outgunned. which i definitely felt was the case with his fight against rich. 'Ace' is really an unorthodox style fighter & it's even harded to match up with him especially since he is also one of those guys with crazy size, strength for his weight class.

And i very much have to argue against just putting any pro fighter into a coaching role. It's the same with any sport, the best players dont always make the best coaches.

you just cant learn how to ball like jordan, cut & run like barry sanders, fight like Ali.

Could you imagine how many fighters now would actually want to be on Royce's team?

I think they'd be about an enthusiastic as kens team.

  15. I've read that Royce had been approached for TUF1 but he's always way too busy making money for the family

i'm guessing with all of these answers, we're setting language barriers and fighting venues aside :o

    :dunno:

i think the sport needs more guys like tanner, salaverry, gsp, arlovski, couture, louiseau.

their humble approach to their matches & respect for their opponents, their true appreciation for their fans & the culture of martial arts, that shit is motivating as hell

GSP would be a good coach, except his english isn't really good enough, and some fighters might have a tough time with him.

    Silva and Jackson.

Both have fought in UFC before right? If so then it's feasible. Would be fun to watch. I've caught a few episodes of each season and I really don't find them very entertaining.

his english is just fine. He's just very self-conscious about it. Dude is at the top of my list for favorite fighters, but i feel that the things that make him great are not coachable qualities.
